You paid for a website. It's live. And... crickets. No enquiries, no calls, nothing you can trace back to it.
Frustrating, but usually fixable. In my experience it comes down to one of five things. Let's go through them.
The most common one. A beautiful site nobody sees is a billboard in the desert. If you're not showing up when people search for your trade in your area, the site can't do its job.
The fix: Make sure your services and suburbs are actually written on the page in plain words, set up a Google Business Profile, and give it time to climb. (I wrote a whole guide on getting found on Google.)
If your site takes more than a few seconds to load, a big chunk of visitors leave before they've seen a thing. They're back on Google, clicking your competitor.
The fix: Compress your images, ditch the heavy plugins, and get it on decent hosting. Speed is often the single biggest quick win.
You'd be amazed how many sites make you hunt for a phone number or bury the contact form three clicks deep. Every extra step loses people.
The fix: Phone number in the header, on every page. A dead-simple form. A clear "get in touch" button that's impossible to miss.
People don't enquire when something feels off, no photos, vague waffle, a stock-photo handshake, no sign of a real human behind it. Doubt kills enquiries silently.
The fix: Real photos of real work. A line about who you are. A review or two. Make it obvious there's an actual person who'll pick up the phone.
A visitor should never have to figure out the next step. If the site just... describes you, and doesn't nudge them to act, most won't.
The fix: One clear call to action, repeated. "Call for a free quote." "Book a chat." Tell people exactly what to do next.
Notice these aren't about fancy features. They're about the basics: be found, be fast, be easy to contact, be trustworthy, be clear. Get those right and a simple site quietly out-earns a flashy one.
If your site's gone quiet and you're not sure which of these is the culprit, send me the link, I'll take a look and tell you straight.
